As we posted earlier in the week saying that middleweights Nate Marquardt and Martin Kampmann could be possibly facing each other to fill up the UFC 88 main card. In a report today says that now the fight has been set, but will now take place at UFC 89 in Birmingham, England.
This matchup could have ramifications as to that the winner could be receiving a future 185 pound title shot now that Yushin Okami is out with an injury. Marquardt did get his chance at the title back at UFC 73, but was taken out in the first round by the current champion Anderson Silva, but this could also prove to be a big opportunity for Kampmann to capitalize on the title picture with him being out with a previous injury not too long ago. The only way to find out is to watch UFC 89 on Spike TV.
