It has been announced today that UFC Welterweight Champion Georges "Rush" St. Pierre (16-2) has been nominated for the 2008 Espy award for the category of best fighter. That list also happened to include boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr., Kelly Pavlik, Joe Calzaghe and Holly Holm.
At last year's ESPY awards show UFC fighters Randy "The Natural" Couture and Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson were also nominees for category of best fighter. GSP just regained the UFC welterweight title by beating Matt Serra (9-5) by TKO in the second round at UFC 83 and will now defend his championship against number 1 contender Jon Fitch (17-2) at UFC 87: Seek and Destroy.
The ESPYs will air it's 16th annual show July 20 at 9pm ET and will be hosted by Justin Timberlake. Good Luck GSP!!!
