As all you hardcore MMA fans know there is a certain dislike between former Pride fighters Alistair Overeem and Mirko Cro Cop as they have been throwing verbal jabs towards each other for the last couple of months. Overeem has been claiming that the Croatian has been ducking him for quite some time and he made that clear once again after he defeated Mark Hunt back at Dream 5."My desire to fight Cro Cop began when I read his interview stating nobody wanted to fight him and that's why he fought some walking-punch bag-guy (Tatsuya Mizuno) at DREAM 3. My management offered me a fight with him at that event and he declined. Then at the K-1 Amsterdam event, my opponent got injured and the promoter attempted to arrange for Mirko to fight, again he declined. This really pissed me off because now my fight was cancelled because this douche-bag didn't want to fight me while he was saying nobody wants to fight him. That's crap, and that's why I grabbed the microphone and I'll keep doing so until I get this fight. I will get him."
This fight does need to happen because Overeem will not stop talking smack till Cro Cop accepts the challenge, but Cro Cop does need to get healthy after taking care of injuries to his knee and elbow. Both Overeem and Cro Cop were rumored to face one another at Dream 6, but Overeem stated that the fight wasn't going to happen there. Reports said that Cro Cop would face either Overeem or Yoshihiro Akiyama.
