The up and coming Strikeforce organization officially announced its second go - round at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, California for the second year in a row. The event which will be called "Strikeforce at the Mansion 2" will take place September 20.
It has been rumored that the organization is trying to air the event on NBC nationally, but if that doesn't happen then it will more than likely air on HDNet a high definition cable station.
Last year in the first event at the mansion Gilbert Melendez the former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion headlined the event. This year the event could be headlined by new Lightweight Champion Josh "The Punk" Thomson who just recently defeated Melendez to gain the title. Also; to compete will be new acquisition Kazuo Misaki and Renato "Babalu" Sobral who won at Affliction's debut event just this past month. There is no word yet if Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Cung Le will be competing on the card as well.
Last year at the house that Hef built the attendance was at about 1,000 fans in the estate, but were treated to one hell of a show with lots of MMA stars and celebrities being apart of the festivities and I expect this year's event to be even better.
