Houston Alexander (8-3) bursted on to the scene at UFC 71 with a beautiful TKO victory of Keith Jardine and then followed it up with another TKO victory over Alessio Sakara at UFC 75. It seemed as if the UFC had another star in the making in the 205 pound division until his fight with the undefeated Thiago Silva at UFC 78. Houston was dominated on the ground by Silva who went on to win the fight by a barrage of strikes from full mount. After that loss he looked to rebound at UFN-13 and was KO'd by a Superman punch from James Irvin in 8 seconds in a controversial stoppage. The loss tied the fastest time in UFC history for a KO, needless to say it was a big setback for the once hot Alexander. Alexander is now rumored to be fighting Eric "Red" Schafer at UFN-15 in September in his home state of Nebraska.
Schafer (9-3-2) on the other hand will return to the Octagon since losing to Stephan Bonnar at UFC 77 in a Jiu-Jitsu clinic of a fight. Since losing two of three in the UFC Schafer has won two in a row outside of the organization.
