In a report given out by the California State Athletic Commission they have medically suspended 11 of the 22 fighters that competed this past Saturday at EliteXC's "Unfinished Business" event including Middleweight Champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler who got a two month suspension by receiving that gash on the top of his head due to elbow strikes by the challenger Scott Smith.
Most of the suspensions however were given out for precautionary reasons especially when a fighter is knocked out in a matchup.
Here is the list of medical suspensions dished out by the CSAC:
Robbie Lawler (def. Scott Smith) - Suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to skull laceration
Scott Smith (def. by Robbie Lawler) - Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
Thomas Denny (def. by Nick Diaz) - Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
Justin Eilers (def. by Antonio Silva) - Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
Travis Galbraith (def. by Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante) - Suspended 180 with no contact for 180 days due to a possible broken rib ( can be cleared only by doctor) with minimum suspension of 45 days no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
Wilson Reis (def. Bryan Caraway) - Suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to skull laceration
Drew Montgomery (def. Brandon Tarn) - Suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to left eye area laceration
Brandon Tarn (def. by Drew Montgomery) - Suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to forehead laceration
Mike Cook (def. by Carl Seumanutafa) - Suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to a lateral right knee injury; with minimum suspension of 45 days no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
