A few weeks back everyone was buzzing when they saw a picture of Mark Hunt on the Dream 5 poster but nothing was confirmed until now. Nightmareofbattle has confirmed that Hunt in fact will be on the card and was announced by Dream officials. This will be Hunt's first fight in MMA since he lost to Fedor on a NYE Pride show of 2006.Other confirmed fights for Dream 5 included the return of Yoshihiro Akiyama Vs Katsuyori Shibata. This will be the first time Akiyama the K1 Hero's veteran will fight under the Dream banner. Shibata recently lost to Jason "Mayhem" Miller at Dream 3 and was hit with constant knees to the head with little to no defense..
also announced and confirmed to the card was a Lightweight GP reserve match between Pride veteran Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen and "Black Mamba" Kultar Gill. This fight is so if any of the other participants of the GP who will also fight the same night get hurt the winner of Hansen Vs Gill does not have an unfair advantage. This has actually happened several times in the older UFC events and even more recently in Pride's GP. One of which saw Kazuo Misaki lose to Paulo Filho to be eliminated only to return the same night and defeat an injured Denis Kang. In the old UFC tournaments the reserve actually came in without fighting anyone and moving into the semi-final rounds with an advantage. This tournament should finish with more fireworks being that all four fighters are so close in skill, I can't wait to it comes on along with the rest of the MMA world.
