Side notes and thoughts
Eddie Alvarez vs Kawajiri topped Alvarez's fight with Hansen and was a back and forth fight straight out of a Rocky movie. Alvarez is no doubt a top 5 lightweight fighter and was my pick to win the whole tournament. He came out swinging for the fences and knocked Kawajiri down with a smooth combination of punches after being locked up on the floor in the guard. He then walked away thinking he won because Kawajiri was out cold, came back and finished him with Hammer fists for a big win. Kawajiri was out cold as doctors and staff ran into the ring but the damage he inflicted to Alvarez's eye was enough to take him out of the tournament. Kawajiri is a warrior and showed no signs of quitting, he rocked Alvarez with an uppercut that would have finished 99% of MMA fighters somehow Alvarez survived and came back to win.
We must see a Alvarez vs Hansen 2.
