Brandon Vera talks about a Werdum rematch, Affliction, Tim Sylvia and Fedor

In a interview with Usatoday.com Brandon Vera talked about his upcoming fight with Reese Andy at UFN-14 on July 19. The show as we all know will take place on the same night as Affliction: Banned. Anyway Vera had this to say about The UFC counter programming Affliction in order to diminish their Pay per View sales, "It's capitalism at its finest. Would I necessarily do it? I don't know. I don't run a multimillion-dollar company."
As we all know last week UFC president Dana White announced he would also counter - program EliteXC's second show on CBS, yesterday it was announced that the UFC would air UFC 84:ill Will and re-broadcast (July 19's) Ultimate Fight Night 14 the same night. When he was asked about the Fabricio Werdum fight and the stoppage many fans and writers thought was early and that Vera was not in trouble. "I figured there was less than 30 seconds left. Even say there was a full minute left, he's not going to finish me from mount in a minute. Rampage (Jackson, against Forrest Griffin) was mounted the whole second round and he finished the fight, you know?" Vera also added that he hoped Werdum would become the Champion in the Heavyweight Division so he could challenge him in front of everyone knowing he can not turn down the challenge. Vera has not stopped about talking about this fight which seems has gotten under his skin because of the way he lost. Some fighters can take a loss like this to turn around a losing streak like Vera is in now. Vera also went on to say that Dana White said he would get a rematch as long as Werdum said yes. Vera said Werdum did agree after the fight and then in the post fight press conference turned it down.
Vera also talked about Tim Sylvia and Fedor's fight at Affliction's debut show saying he hoped Tim Sylvia came out with the win and the last guy Fedor fought was "Some schmuck." Vera did also go on to say that he still felt Fedor was number 1 in the world. He also said that the fight would be determined on which Tim Sylvia would show up the night of the fight. Vera will fight Reese Andy on July 19 in his first fight at the 205 pound weight class and will be looking to end his 2 fight losing streak.
