Vitor Belfort (17-8) at one point was considered to be the future of the UFC and all of MMA. After a fight with Randy Couture at UFC 15 seemed to have changed both their destiny's and historic places in MMA, Belfort went through some very publicized ups and downs. From knocking out Wanderlei Silva at UFC Brazil to losing to Tito Ortiz by the narrowest of margins and leaving the UFC. Now after a win over fellow former UFC fighter Terry Martin at Afflicition "Banned" by a very impressive knockout. Fighting at a new weight class (185 pounds)and a new organization Belfort will get a lot of new challenges as well. Now another former UFC fighter and long time top middleweight Matt Lindland is looking for a fight with Vitor under their new promotion.
This of course would be a good starting point if Affliction decided to add a Middleweight Championship belt and fight to its rumored next card on October 11. This would be just what Affliction has given its hardcore MMA fans so far, which is solid top fighters outside of the UFC going against each other. Stay tuned because I dont think Affliction would have a problem putting this fight together for its fans.
"I would love to fight Belfort, he’s a legend in the sport. I respect him a lot. To get in the ring with a guy like him would be great."
