“It’s true. I was offered to fight at [UFC Fight Night 14], but Brandon Vera did not want want it. I do not know what happened, but he did not accept the fight.”
Lyoto Machida told the statement above to Tatame in a recent interview, when asked if he had been offered to fight at UFN 14. Vera who is coming off of back to back losses to Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum at Heavyweight. Now Vera will fight at 205 pound weight class (LHW), making his debut against Reese Andy (7-1) a long time IFL fighter. Vera might have not taken the fight in fear of slipping to 3 straight losses but maybe should have taken the fight for the other reason. Machida is 13-0 and is beginning to seem to appear to be the UFC's #1 contender at Light Heavyweight, had Vera beaten him he would have also jumped right into the Quinton Jackson Vs Forrest winner sweepstakes.
