As we reported to you earlier this week, Tyson Griffin (12-1) is slowly getting closer to a title shot now winning 4 fights in a row and 5 of his firts 6 fights in the Octagon. Now the man who stands in his way of getting that title shot is the former Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk (32-3).
According to Sources from Extreme Couture Griffin has agreed to take on the "Muscle Shark" at UFC 90 on October 25. This fight will take place on the undercard of the Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote main event. Both Griffin and Sherk seem as if they are one big win away from a title shot. As Griffin with a win can prove he has the potential to beat an upper echelon fighter in the lightweight division and measure his chances against BJ Penn. Sherk with a win can also show that he has every right to get a shot at the title he once held. Both fighters have a wrestling base and top notch cardio meaning this fight could be a 3 round war. Griffin has won some controversial decisions, but you would have to imagine that Sherk would get the benefit of the doubt from judges if the fight was close because he is the former champion and the veteran. We will let you know when this becomes officially announced by the UFC.
