UFC 87 - Seek and Destroy at the Target Center was the largest live gate in the event center's history according to MMAjunkie.com. The event which featured hometown hero Brock Lesnar KO'd the previous record holder out of the top spot. A 2001 concert with Elton John and Billy Joel held the record with a live gate of $2,062,000. UFC 87 raked in $2,252,000 with 15,082 attendees for the star studded event.
This report should show many of the States now that still have MMA banned the potential for revenue. We here at UR DIRT are from New York and hope Governor David Patterson realizes the potential of MMA in Madison Square Garden or a new Yankee Stadium which is set to be unveiled next year.
