As we all know this past Saturday night Georges St. Pierre successfully defended his welterweight championship at UFC 87 against a very gutsy and tough challenger in Jon Fitch and right after the match UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn stepped into the Octagon to not only congratulate St. Pierre, but to also challenge him. St. Pierre made it clear that he would not duck anyone, "I want to be a real champion, I want to be the best in the world" He also would says, "And to be the best in the world you have to fight the best in the world and I want to give a shot to everybody that deserves it. BJ Penn deserves it, he's an incredible fighter."
At the UFC 87 post fight press conference president Dana White confirmed that the fight between St. Pierre and Penn is definitely going to take place. White said, "I'm going to let that fight happen and then I'll figure out what we're going to do at 155."
This UFC superfight could most likely take place at the end of the year in late December as most fans would expect. There was some talk that the fight between the two champions could be held up in Montreal, Canada (St. Pierre's hometown), but White clearly stated that probably won't happen. We will keep you updated where the fight's location and venue will be held at.
