As we reported yesterday EliteXC's September 20 event at "The Pit" in Albuquerque, New Mexico was canceled for unknown reasons. Only a day later Cage Rage Contenders has also been canceled by their parent company ProElite. ProElite also owns EliteXC, Cage Rage, Spirit MC, Icon Sport and Rumble on the Rock. Here is what was told to MMAWeekly, "We cancelled the show in order to focus on the November contenders show, which will be the first time we have done a live contenders show in full direct to TV. It made no sense to spread ourselves thin on this occasion"
Hopefully ProElite is seeing the writing on the walls early and is avoiding going the way of the IFL, which closed its door of operations late last month. As we all know the company has operated in the red since its inception and has had numerous firings and resignations in the passed year or so. Let's hope they can get to any financial problems in advance.
