UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian is on a high right now. Ever since losing to Sean Sherk for the then vacant UFC Lightweight Championship back in 2006 Florian has reeled off 5 straight victories in the Octagon and just recently defeating Roger Huerta this past Saturday night at UFC 87 in Minnesota. But with Lightweight Champion BJ Penn now moving up in weight to challenge Welterweight title holder Georges St. Pierre; Florian might have to wait for Penn, but with his desire to fight that is highly unlikely.
Florian tells MMAweekly Radio on Monday night,
"I don't want to wait around either, it's kind of frustrating at the same time. I do want to fight the top guys, BJ obviously is a legend and when you want to make your mark, that's what I want to do. I want to have my legacy in this sport as well, so give me a chance."

Florian wants to fight once more this year and will challenge any tough opponent that comes his way. "Maybe I could fight the winner of (Tyson) Griffin - (Sean) Sherk, I don't know how the timing works out for that," said Florian. "Maybe we can bring someone in like a (Joachim) Hansen or (Shinya) Aoki or someone, to have kind of a superfight." I don't know about you, but I love the way this guy just wants to compete. Florian deserved that title shot and whenever he gets to fight BJ for the title it will be one hell of a show. In the meantime though another tough challenge should fall on his lap sometime soon.
