Hellboy "I will never put my foot in the Octagon"

Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen recently won the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix and Lightweight title in July. Making a remarkable run after being eliminated by the narrowest of margins against Eddie Alvarez in his previous fights. He was able to finally get his revenge with a TKO win over Shinya Aoki in the final. Avenging a loss earlier in his career when the two fought for Pride FC. Now in a interview with Guard.TV Hansen expressed his frustrations with the UFC and told them why he would not fight in the UFC even though he wants to challenge their best fighters.

“I would fight anyone of the UFC lightweights, but the problem is that I will never put my foot in the octagon after they (UFC) tried to be funny, I would rather have bleeding hemorrhoids than fight for the UFC. The Japanese MMA audience is the best in the world. They make magic! I would rather have one true Japanese MMA supporter than one million fake mainstream supporters that will turn their back on you as soon as you lose a fight.”

There was a rumor that Hansen was offered and turned down $30K ($40K second fight) to fight and another $30K ($40K second fight) to win by the UFC after the buyout of PrideFC from DSE. The rumor was never confirmed but seemed as a legitimate offer at the time for a fighter of Hansen's skill there is the possibility that he was upset about the amount knowing he made more in Japan in Pride and K-1. We will possibly never know the real reason but one thing is for sure this will hurt many fans who hoped to see Hansen match up against the UFC's finest any time soon.
