Will Shields and the Goat be Fight of the Night ?

As we all know tomorrow night EliteXC will have its second show on CBS and it will feature 2 Championship fights. The first for the Middleweight belt which features a rematch between Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith. We all know the of story the first fight because of the controversy that ensued when Lawler accidentally poked Smith in the eye. The second fight has two of the worlds best Welterweights outside of the UFC, where both fighters once called home.
Jake Shields (20-4) is a Cesar Gracie trained well rounded fighter who has beaten some of the worlds best fighters in Hayato "Mach" Sakurai (Dream WW Champion), Carlos Condit (WEC WW Champion) and Yushin Okami who is a natural middleweight and has a 15 pound weight advantage over Jake. Shields had this to say in a recent press conference about the fight,
"Two days out from the fight and I feel great. I'm about to start cutting my weight. I weigh-in tomorrow, so right now I'm worried about that. I'm about 13 lbs over-- nothing too bad. I just saw Nick and sized him up. He looks ready to fight and I know I'm ready. I'm excited-- I couldn't be more excited. I would love to fight him right now. I'd like to go out there and get it over with, but gotta wait two days. This is the most excited I've ever been to fight. I want to go out there and put on a good show and try to knock him out or submit him & bring it. Make sure you watch the fight on Saturday-- it's sure to be a good one."
So it would only be fair he finally had a belt to call his own, but another former Champion stands in his way of that dream of being the EliteXC Welterweight Champion.

Nick "The Goat" Thompson (36-9) is the former Bodog Welterweight Champion and former UFC fighter where he lost his only bout to top fighter Karo Parisyan by submission in 2006. Since then Thompson has won 12 fights in a row and handed Eddie Alvarez the only loss of his career by TKO. Thompson had this to say about the fight against Shields,
"At this point in time, honestly, the fight is the last thing on your mind. You're tired; you're ready to weigh-in and just get things started. I wish the fight was in 10 minutes. About an hour before the fight I'll start getting nervous, but for now, I'm just focused on making weight and focused on doing all the things I need to do leading up to this fight."
This fight should prove to be interesting because both are on hot streaks and not known for giving up. This may be EliteXC "Unfinished Business" fight of the night as well as their best fight yet.
