Quinton Rampage Jackson is the UFC's light Heavyweight Champion and plans on staying Champion for a long time. The UFC's 205 pound Championship has always been held by Legends of the Octagon Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture and the man he beat to become champion Chuck Liddell. Rampage with a win over Forrest Griffin will get one step closer to the status his predecessors set before him and possibly a step closer to a fight with another great 205 pound champion. Former Pride Champion Wanderlei Silva.
Silva who beat Rampage in both their meetings in Pride may be on the horizon for Rampage. Silva won via (Rape Choke and) TKO at UFC 84 of the highly touted Keith Jardine, after losing 3 fights to other top MMA stars Mirko Cro Cop, Dan Henderson and Chuck Liddell. The difference being Silva dropped his last fight in the Octagon to Chuck Liddell who has the adoration of casual fans and hardcore fans alike. In his historic meeting with Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva knocked Liddell to the ground twice with solid punches. This spirited effort in a loss may help sell Wanderlei as a challenger to Jackson's belt for fans who did not see him fight in Japan. Clips of his wins over Jackson by violent knees to the face leading up to the event will get any fan casual or hardcore's blood pumping for a 3rd fight. Make no mistake this is the one fight Rampage wants to show the rest of the world he can win. Rampage showed up to the Chuck Liddell Vs Wanderlei Silva and expressed dissapointment when Silva lost shakeing his head back and forth. We know when a Champion builds his legacy in MMA he wants nothing more then to redeem losses. Now imagine how bad Jackson wants Silva especially after hearing his name come out of Forrest Griffin's mouth all week. This may cause Rampage enough frustration to take it out on Griffin by a violent KO. Read part 2 later on today. Please leave comments below
