Velasquez "Destroyed" Vera, Buentello and Mike Kyle.

According to a article written by Dave Meltzer in his upcoming July 29th News letter for Wrestling Observer for F4w. Highly touted UFC Heavyweight Cain Velazquez (4-0) "Destroyed" fighters who were brought in to train with him for his fight against Jake O'Brien. The report says that Brandon Vera, Paul Buentello and Mike Kyle were all brought in to train with him for his upcoming fight and he ran right through them. Also mentioned was the fact he trained with all three fighters for 2 rounds a piece and at the end "wasn't even the slightest bit tired." This should prove to be interesting if true because it would show how far he has come since turning from a NCAA Wrestler at Arizona to a full time Mixed Martial Artist in only 4 fights.

Velasquez who is getting a big endorsement from everyone who trains him or watches him train got probably the biggest last week from his training partner Daniel Puder "I think in a year he can beat Fedor (Emelianenko)." His manager Javier Mendez also said could beat Randy Couture now. No endorsements could possibly be bigger then that one and it shows how good he is now. Velasquez is one of many fighters these days as being the saviors or the UFC heavyweight division. Along with Shane Carwin and Brock Lesnar they bring a new level of 265 pound athletes who can do it all and are anything but the one dimensional heavyweights of old. Velasquez, Carwin and Lesnar all possess superior wrestling credentials greater then current UFC Champion Randy Couture. Adding to those skills Velasquez and Carwin are well versed in Jiu-Jitsu training along with crisp Boxing skills with their respective training camps. One thing that's for sure is these 3 fighters have the potential to be the UFC's version of the "Big three" Pride had in its prime. At one point they had Fedor, Mirko Cro Cop and Current UFC interim Champion Antonio Nogueira. Even though it is still to early to know for sure what the future holds for Velasquez and his fellow heavyweights the picture will become a lot more clear this year as they take on bigger tasks as the year rolls on.
