Anderson Silva (22-4) is fresh off of a KO win at UFN-14 over James Irvin that only took him a minute. About one minute later it seems Anderson was already on to his next fight mentally. After telling UFC president Dana White and UFC match maker Joe Silva he wanted to fight more during the year, Silva will get his wish. According to the
Chicago Sun Times Dana White confirmed the fight in an article,
"White came through. The UFC told the Sun-Times on Friday that Anderson Silva would put his middleweight belt at stake against Patrick Cote to headline UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote at Allstate Arena on Oct. 25."

His opponent will be Patrick Cote (13-4) winner of 5 straight fights and 7 of his last 8, who is coming off of a lackluster win at UFC 86 over Ricardo Almeida. Cote had this to say about the upcoming fight,
‘‘He wins a lot of his fights before they start because his opponents are intimidated and scared of him. I’m not scared of anyone in my weight class, especially him.’’
Cote will take the place of Yushin Okami who recently injured his hand while training for a possible fight against Silva. With UFC 89 and 90 taking place only a week away from each other rumors of a second Affliction show and an EliteXC show in October should prove to be a "Stacked" month for MMA just like July was.
Edit UFC.com has also confirmed this fight and the rumored EliteXC show is also official now.
