It has been said that a possible deal between the UFC and Spike TV could be airing it's event UFC 89 in Birmingham, England October 18 on basic cable for free which would make lots of sense since the UFC will have it's next event the following week on the 25th of October in Chicago, Illinois for UFC 90. The UFC 89 event which has a very stacked card that features the likes of Michael Bisping, Chris Leben, Sokoudjou, Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva could now be adding a potential title fight with Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva taking on the new number 1 contender Patrick Cote.
The original plan was to have Silva face Yushin Okami (who was first in line for a title shot) in September, but Okami suffered a broken hand while training, so Cote who beat Ricardo Almeida at UFC 86 earned a future 185 pound title shot in the future. Now Cote will most likely get his shot more sooner than later. We will keep you posted if and/or when this becomes official.
