Jay Hieron coming back to the UFC?

Jay Hieron (15-4) is the current IFL welterweight Champion, he was rumored last month to be a possible opponent for Jake Shields at EliteXC's second show on CBS in a fight for the promotions welterweight championship. With the IFL in financial ruin and with no sign of recovery any time soon many of their fighters have begun to jump ship to other organizations. The UFC recently signed Brad Blackburn, Reese Andy and Rory Markham to contracts and will be fighting at Ultimate Fight Night 14. When looking at Jay Hieron's Myspace page (click here to see) you can see he now has a UFC logo for his background and no mention of the IFL. I have sent a personal message to Jay in hopes of getting official word on a move to the UFC or if this is just old and has not been changed in a while. His last login was on June 29 so we hope we will get word back to you as soon as possible, so we can share it with our fans.

Hieron's first stint in the UFC he went 0-2 losing to current UFC welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre by TKO (Punches). His other loss was to St.Pierre's fellow countrymen Jonathan Goulet by TKO cuts. Since then Hieron has worked with Xtreme Couture to improve his game drastically winning 8 of his last 10 fights. With wins over highly regarded prospect Jake Ellenberger, Delson Heleno and Mark Miller. We will keep you informed of any information that comes to us.
