Diego Sanchez (19-2) will fight Thiago Alves (15-3) at UFC 89 according to MMAweekly.com (click here to see the full article). Diego who is fresh off a win at the TUF 7 finale where he finished Thiago's fellow ATT teammate Luigi Fioravanti. Sanchez after losing two straight fights to Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch has rebounded nicely with two straight wins. 
Thiago Alves who beat Matt Hughes in impressive fashion by a flying knee seemed sure for a title shot at 170 pounds after Georges St.Pierre fights Jon Fitch at UFC 89. The only problem is he did not make weight for the fight at UFC 85: Bedlam and it seems Dana White and Joe Silva want to make sure he can make weight before giving him a title shot.
