As Affliction Banned's numbers continue to come in little by little, Tom Atencio today said in a interview with Yahoo!sports that the event "Definitely" did over 100,000 buys. This would be very big news for a companies debut show. If correct this would mean Affliction made at least $4 Million from its buys along with the $2 Million it made off of ticket sales. This would recoup the money paid out to fighters ($3.3 Million) and hopefully after paying production crews and other various insurances and bills would at least pull them even. No money lost right now for Affliction would be a very big deal if you look at the number of companies who have come out of the gate spewing millions like a fountain.
Atencio on Pay per view buys.
"I don’t have everything on that yet, but for the people who felt this was going to be a total flop in that regard, I have news for them,” Atencio said. "It’s already done a lot better than what I’ve heard people speculating. I’m not going to release the (official) number, but it’s already well beyond what people have been saying. Well beyond."

If you look at the WFA, IFL, EliteXC, and other companies over the last year which have gone out of business none has ever had a promotion where they at the very least broke even. Even the UFC when taken over by Zuffa lost a reported $40 million plus. This is great news as we will now hopefully have two major mixed martial arts companies that will push the envelope and compete for our Pay per view dollars. Maybe even fans choosing sides as they did when Pride FC and the UFC were going at it neck and neck two years ago, lets hope competition brings in new fans and new rivalries.
