It has been reported that the UFC and Spike TV has greenlit the event and telecast to air July 19 to compete with debut of the Affliction promotion. As said in a previous report at urdirt.com UFC up and comer Cain Velasquez will be on the card and Brandon "The Truth" Vera appears to make the move to light heavyweight and be the main event, but he will not be facing "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva because he feels he will not be ready to go in 5 weeks; so the UFC will look for someone else to fill the main event to face Vera. Some of the other bouts that were set on upcoming events will likely be moved around to help build a strong card. The event will likely take place at the Palms Hotel & Resort Casino in Las Vegas.
"My 2 Cents" This is big for the fans, but not so much for Affliction.
Jake Shileds (20-4-1) will finally get his chance at the EliteXC Weltherweight Championship at the upcoming July 26 EliteXC on CBS. As we all know this will be the third time this year he has been schedueled to fight for a Welterweight Championship bout. This fight was supposed to be against Drew Fickett but after being injured and not able to fight on last weeks EliteXC card. An injury that was specualted not to be as serious as Fickett reported. Possible opponents include IFL Welterweight Champion Jay Hieron (15-4) and Nick "The GOAT" Thompson (36-9-1). Reagardless of which opponent Shields fights is sure to have his hands full with both fighters.

Update - Josh Gross of Si.com is reporting that there is a possibility that Bigfoot Silva may fight current IFL Champion Roy Nelson or Robert" Buzz" Berry who recently knocked out Ken Shamrock at Cage Rage. He has also reported that there is a possibility of seeing Shayna Baszler Vs Kelly Kobald, Wilson Reis Vs Bao Quatch or Mark Oshiro. He also said the card might be named "Unfinished Business".
