July 19 UFC may be announced tommorow. It's official UFC 88: Liddell vs. Evans September 6 in Atlanta

An announcement for the July 19 UFC card may come as early as tommorow according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer. From a statement he made today here is what we gathered from him.
Dave Meltzer, Wrestling observer.
"Here is the basics on the story going around regarding a UFC show on 7/19, head-to-head with the Affliction show. The sherdog.com story is correct in that fighters have been called, including Wanderlei Silva and Brandon Vera, but that match is likely not happening even on the chance there is such a show on that date. It was an idea talked about in preliminary stages but Spike officials have said the next live special after Saturday will be on 9/17 and Dana White had also not green-lighted the idea as of earlier today and it was considered a no-go this morning. Fighters have been contacted and based on updated stuff, I expect it is happening and most likely the final decision and an announcement will be made tomorrow. The fact they are still working hard on getting a quality main event says something."

This is big news lets hope this becomes true so we have more events to cover and DVR, besides I go on vacation July 18 so this is great news for me. I get to finally watch something while its happening instead of on the DVR.

Update by Metzler Wanderlei has turned down the fight on July 19.
"It was never an idea that was green-lighted by either UFC or Spike. A Sunday Sherdog.com report saying that Wanderlei Silva and Brandon Vera were approached about potentially fighting on the date was confirmed to Y! Sports. Silva turned the date down, feeling it didn’t give him adequate time to prepare."

We at UR Dirt.com reported a rumor last week that former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell would face off with the undefeated Rashad Evans at UFC 88 and now that fight has been made official. The fight will take place September 6 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.

This is the first time since 1997 that the UFC will have a show in the State of Georgia (UFC 13). Tickets will go on sale beginning this Saturday.

The up and coming American Fight League was the first MMA promotion to hold an event at the Philips Arena.
