Sokoudjou still talking about Shogun and a possible fight.

In a interview with Fighthype Sokoudjou is still trying to get a fight with Shogun Rua, when PRIDE was brought out and the fact that he mentioned that the UFC should do a Pay-per-view called "One more PRIDE". An event that he said he would love to be to co-main event of a possible future Wanderlei Silva Vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson 3 fight. Sokoudjou had this to say to fighthype, "I would love for the UFC to do that".
When he was asked if he was calling out Shogun because it would be his first fight since his knee injury Sokoudjou said,
"I've been calling him out since my second fight in PRIDE. I've always wanted to fight him. He's one of the top guys. I would love to fight him because it would show me where I am as far as being a top athlete like him."
When he was asked if he was calling him out to disrespect him he said,
"No. No disrespect ...I mean, he's one of those guys I go home and study. How could I be disrespectful when I say all the time he's one of the top guys.
When asked if he would be ready for a return for a possible September fight, when Shogun is rumored to return.
"I could lose a leg or thigh and still be good to fight Shogun : I want that fight badly.

As a fan and a writer lets hope The UFC and Joe Silva honors Soko's request this would be a great fight to watch. These guys have been talking about each other since PRIDE lets hope it happens.

Rumor: Jesse Taylor to fight at UFN 14.

Photobucket

Jesse Taylor messed up really bad at the second to last episode of TUF7, he got drunk kicked out a window of a Limo, "terrorized" female guests at a hotel. While forgetting he was in what Dana White described as "My Town", Taylor's actions got him kicked off of the finale and a six figure contract with the UFC. We all felt bad for him and hoped he would learn from his mistake enough to one day be able to return to the UFC. Well fret no more Jesse "JT Money" is rumored to be fighting at UFN 14 on the undercard which features Anderson Silva making his 205 pound debut against James "The Sandman" Irvin. Fighthype was first to report the rumor and we at URDirt.com hope it is true.

"Despite being kicked out of The Ultimate Fighter Finale, it appears that Jesse Taylor is set to make his return to the UFC. Sources close to the situation have informed us that, less than one month after he was supposed to face Amir Sadollah in the finale, Taylor will be entering the Octagon on the July 19th card headlined by Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin. Although an opponent has yet to be named, it’s rumored that CB Dolloway, who replaced Taylor in the finale and ultimately lost a second time to Sadollah via first round submission, could be the frontrunner to land the fight."

The rumor as you read is pretty interesting because it says CB Dollaway is a possible opponent which would be pretty weird since he just lost a week ago to Sadollah at the TUF 7 finale.

Brock Larson Vs Carlo Prater at WEC 35.

WEC added yet another interesting fight to its already stacked August 25 event, in a fight confirmed by MMAmania.com Brock Larson (23-2) will fight Carlo Prater (23-6) at WEC 35. Larson who won his last fight against John Alessio at WEC 33, after Alessio kneed him in the face while he was down and was DQ'd. This will be Prater's first return to the WEC since his loss to Carlos Condit at WEC 32, since then Parter has won two in a row outside the organization.
This adds another quality fight to a card in which Carlos Condit (WW), Brian Stann (LHW) and Jamie Varner (LW) who will all defend their Championship belts.

KJ Noons smack talks about a second Diaz fight on Inside MMA yesterday

Yesterday on HDNet's Inside MMA the subject of a possible rematch with Nick Diaz was once again brought up to KJ Noons. Noons held up the notorious picture of Diaz 's eye that was busted open in their first fight. "you this right here, get a real good look at it (covering the sherdog.com logo).Look at this guy's face (Diaz) This took five minutes. I'm going to do a little trash talking right now. My nickname is KJ right, the first show they came up with was KO. Then they came up with King Karl for the last one, so I've come up with a nickname every time. So if were going to meet in the match again I think I want to be called the "Artist". Noons said laughing, you see this? This is a masterpiece so round 2 yeah lets go."

After all the talk and rumors of this fight it kind of makes me wonder why isn't this fight happening then? The fight was rumored to be happening less then a day after Noon's first defense. Diaz recently seemed as if he even thought the fight was going to happen on July 26. When we interviewed him last weekend he even told us "I want that Bitch to come to Stockton". So once again why is this fight not happening when the fans, promoters and fighters even want it to happen on July 26. No disrespect to Thomas Denny who is one hell of a fighter and very dangerous for Diaz.

Thomson shuts down Melendez to become the new Strikeforce LW Champion

On a side note MMAweekly.com Mike Afromowitz of Strikeforce said that there is a chance Le's first title defense may be against former PRIDE star and Middleweight Grand Prix Champion Kazuo Misaki in the fall. This would be a great test for Le as a first title defense as Misaki is known for beating fighters who take him lightly. Misaki has wins over Denis Kang and former PRIDE Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson.

“You know, it’s a possibility he might wind up fighting (Kazuo) Misaki, who we were hoping he’d fight last November, but there was scheduling conflicts on Misaki’s side, so it didn’t happen,” Afromowitz commented on potential opponents. “Misaki’s a fighter that we recently signed, so Cung may wind up fighting him or he may just go back and fight Frank (Shamrock) again for his next fight, but he’ll be back.”

Misaki has not fought since his win over Logan Clark at Sengoku WVR : Third Battle.

For those of you who were fortunate enough like myself to have HDnet we got to watch Strikeforce's "Melendez Vs Thomson". Who would have known that Thomson would come out in yesterday's main event and shut down Melendez five rounds to none. Thomson's mouth piece for the fight had the word "Champ" on it. Which showed Thomson's confidence after being out for 9 months with a shoulder injury. Congratulations to Thomson on his win over Melendez.
