Rumors- Wanderlei Vs Thiago Silva, Sengoku 4 Rumor. Gomi Vs Horodecki battle of the posterboys...

Another interesting rumor today is that after turning down a chance to fight Brandon Vera at UFN 14, Wanderlei Silva's next opponent maybe one time Chute Boxe teammate Thiago Silva. Wrestling Observer today revealed the rumor today on its site. This fight would make for a very interesting battle of styles as both like to stand and bang. Being trained out of the same camp means both of these two have sparred in the past in the legendary Brazilian camp.
The winner of this fight may very well be in line for a title shot after Forrest Griffin and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson fight at UFC 86 in two weeks. Thiago Silva has won four fights in a row in the UFC and remains undefeated at 13-0. Wanderlei is also coming off a very impressive win over Keith Jardine at UFC 84: ill will, were he won by an impressive TKO victory in under a minute.
Hopefully we will get confirmation of this fight for UFC 88 in Atlanta or a rumored UFC 89 in England soon. A fight this good who wants to wait too long?

Something a bit interesting that fans might really want to see happen is a rumored fight between Takanori Gomi and Chris Horodecki at Sengoku 4. If you go into MMAweekly.com's rumor section you will see this below,
WORLD VICTORY ROAD: "SENGOKU 4" ON AUGUST 24, 2008-
Takanori Gomi (#2 Lightweight in the World)* vs. Chris Horodecki Lightweight Tournament
Participants:-Duane Ludwig
Rodrigo Damm
Yokota Kazunori
Mitsuoka Eiji
Satoru Kitaoka

This fight would be really big as another IFL star maybe its biggest is Japan bound to fight its greatest Lightweight Champion in Takanori Gomi. Right now Shinya Aoki may be getting all the attention in Dream but Gomi was one of Pride's posterboys and crowd favorites. This could be a legendary fight, too bad I have no clue but youtube on where to watch this. Credit to bloodyelbow.com for the find.

Fights added to upcoming UFC and EliteXC events.

The UFC has added a couple of fights for the upcoming UFC 88: Breakthrough and UFN 15shows. These are cards that will take place in the month of September as former Pride champ Dan Henderson (22-7) will face Rousimar Palhares (8-1) at UFC 88: Breakthrough in Atlanta. It looks like Hendo will be staying in the division even though he lost to the curent middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Henderson will be looking to end a 2 fight losing streak as he takes on Palhares who won in his UFC debut against Ivan Salaverry who just recently retired.

Also announced today was Joe Lauzon (16-4) will take on Kyle Bradley (13-5) at UFN 15 at Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska. Both Lauzon and Bradley will be on the card along with Mac Danzig (18-4-1) and Clay Guida (23-9) who appear to be the main event which will air on SpikeTV.

It appears that Nick Diaz (17-7) will not be getting his rematch with KJ Noons for the EliteXC lightweight championship July 26 on CBS "Saturday Night Fights". Instead Diaz will be entering the cage in his hometown of Stockton, Ca. to face Thomas "Wild Man" Denny (26-16). Diaz has won 3 of his last 4 fights just recently defeating Muhsin Corbbrey at EliteXC: Return of the King card in Hawaii and as for Denny he won his last bout in a matchup with Muay Thai specialist Malaipet "Team Diamond" at a recent ShoXC card due to illegal blows to the back of his head. Overall; Denny has won 4 of his last 5 bouts. This will be an intriguing matchup to watch.

Affliction to get 2 more shows.

Affliction's debut event at the Honda center may have a adversary in the UFC attempting its hardest to put it out of buisness on July 19 but Tom Atencio remains unphased. Today on MMAweekly.com's radio show he announced that Afflcition is already planning to do another 2 shows soon. As we all know this seems optimistic when the UFC is putting its most exciting fighter on for free on Spike and product is $39.99. The one thing that might really help Affliction's future shows with financial backing might be the one thing that pulled the UFC to make a card on the same date, Donald Trump.

Tom Atencio on MMAweely.com radio.
“We’re looking at July 19 at the Honda Center, then we’ve got end of October, possibly November for the second show, then the third show will be February.”

Hopefully this will not be last time Affliction has anothere quality card like this, the second the UFC announced it was having a show on the same date is put Affliction "Banned" on the back of our minds. This card has Fedor, Sylvia, AA, Rothwell, Barnett and Rizzo how have we forgotten this?
